Director of Quantitative Research

Matthew Sawoski is Director of Quantitative Research at EPRINC, where he builds the models behind the foundation’s work on energy markets, national security, and artificial intelligence. His analysis of oil and gas markets, federal leasing revenue, and long-term security trends has informed congressional staff and the Department of Defense. His work on AI spans its energy demands and its implications for innovation and long-run economic growth, including how AI is changing the cost of producing new mathematical and scientific results. He also leads the technical integration of AI systems into EPRINC’s infrastructure.

As lead analyst for EPRINC’s weekly Chart of the Week, Matthew translates developments in global oil and gas markets for an audience that includes congressional offices. He also organizes the foundation’s policy workshops on electricity, LNG, and energy security.

Matthew joined EPRINC in 2023. He holds a B.A. in mathematics, with a minor in history, from the University of Michigan, and is pursuing graduate coursework in physics at the University of Maryland.
